A little about me:
I became a 1st time mum when my son was born on 17th December 2007. However, the road to motherhood wasn't an easy one. I had a miscarriage back in 2002 at two and a half months. Although the pregnancy hadn't been a planned one, my husband and I were happy at the idea of becoming parents and were both disappointed when things went wrong. It turns out it was just one of those things. No real reason for why. It just wasn't meant to be.
The whole experience did make us realise just how much we wanted a baby though and so after giving ourselves a few years to organise ourselves a bit better we decided to try for a baby. I feel pregnant that very month.
That pregnancy wasn't easy either and I ended up passing the best part of 8 months on bed rest with several visits to the hospital thrown in along the way. I was affected by Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which basically means excessive nausea and vomitting during pregnancy.
At 8 months (almost to the day) my waters broke and off I went to the hospital for a c-section birth. The hospital staff were great. Many of them remembered me from my stays there during the earlier months of the pregnancy.
Despite arriving a month early my son was doing great and after just a couple of hours was moved from the premature unit in with the other babies. He is now a full of energy two year old.
Here are a few books that deal with the topic of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. I am not linked to any of them and offer them here purely as reading suggestions.
I hope you will enjoy reading this blog and find the posts useful in your journey as a 1st time mum.
