How to make little fingers green

As you know we recently moved house. Although the new place is much smaller than the old one it does have one major plus factor...A garden!

My son is even more enthusiastic about the garden than I am. All that space to play in the open air. He couldn't be happier!

I decided to plant various herb seeds in pots (fresh is much better than the dried stuff from the supermarket both for taste and health wise) and enrolled my sons help with the task.

Needless to say, he thoughly enjoyed being allowed to get his little hands dirty as he helped me to fill the pots with soil. He watched as I put in the seeds and then helped to water them.

It was a simple task but very enjoyable for both of us. He also now comes over to the pots while he's in the garden playing to check if they're growing. It's become our new little project.

As always, it's important to give close supervision to make sure the child doesn't hurt himself (gardens can have weeds like stinging nettles that are best to find before the child does) and depending on the age if the child, it's wise to make sure he hasn't decided to eat the soil or other objects :)
